Hot Shops Art Center, Haney Studio #209

THE STUDIO

We are located in the Hot Shops Art Center in Omaha, Nebraska.

Amy and Judy share a lovely warm studio in downtown Omaha at the Hot Shops Art Center. The Haneys initially moved to Hot Shops back in 2003 where Amy and Judy participated in countless exhibitions and events in the building. After purchasing a massive Takach Press in 2017, they moved just a few blocks east to the Midco Building. While there, Amy explored large woodblock printing, she produced a series of bird prints spanning around five by two and half feet. In 2023, the Haneys moved back to Hot Shops. The Midco Building experience (sounds like a band name, yes?), was fruitful yet lacking in a sense of community. They just missed being around other creatives. Needless to say, Amy and Judy are ecstatic to be back ‘home’.

Amy offers printmaking and watercolour workshops throughout the year. Sessions typically run five to six weeks with occasional weekend pop-up classes. We use ferric chloride and copper with techniques such as line etch and aquatint. The relief printmaking workshops are basic black and white prints and there are also reduction woodcut classes.

We participate in the Open Houses hosted by Hot Shops along with other events happening throughout the building. For information, check the Hot Shops website.
